Great Britain

Aidan McGarry is a British lecturer and researcher at the University of Brighton, specialising in political movements and minority groups. He gives lectures on political trends, international relations and nationalism, and researches the influence of the current visual culture on civil protests. McGarry previously researched the aesthetic considerations that impact the visual expressions of protest, such as banners, signs and films, and he wrote about the use of humour at demonstrations. He will be presenting a mini-lecture on civil protests at the Humanities Night.
