Alex Boogers (1970) wrote pieces for Renaissance, Passionate Magazine and Esquire for a short time before he released his debut in 1999 under the pseudonym M.L. Lee. His second book came out under his own name three years later. His breakthrough came with Alleen de goden (Only the Gods), which was nominated for the Libris Literature Prize and ultimately won the Boekhandelsprijs. In 2017, Podium published his eighth novel Onder een hemel van sproeten (Under a Sky of Freckles).
