Andy Fierens

Andy Fierens (1976), who hails from Flanders, is a little bit of a misfit in the literary world. He is a poet, but also a performer. He regularly appears with his music and poetry group Andy & The Androids. Fierens made his début in 2009 with his collection Grote smerige vlinder (Big Dirty Butterfly) (De Bezige Bij, 2009), for which he received the Herman De Coninck prize for poetry in 2010. More collections followed, packed with hilarious poems about the most bizarre topics: from brand names to fragments of texts heard on the street and all sorts of malapropisms. His work always has a palpable sense of fun. He has already performed at the Night of Poetry, but now Andy is appearing at the Children’s Night with his alter ego Farmer Dandy, under the slogan “armed with a wild sense of humour, Farmer Dandy gives things colour again.”
