Arthur Langeveld

Arthur Langeveld (1947) worked as a lecturer in Russian literature and history at the University of Utrecht until he retired in 2002. He also wrote about Russian literature for De Groene Amsterdammer and the NRC Handelsblad. He started his career by following a course in Slavonic studies and in subsequent years, translated Russian classics into Dutch, including various works by Tolstoy, such as Childhood and Boyhood. In 1999 Langeveld was awarded the Aleida Schot Prize for his translations and in 2006, he received the Martinus Nijhoff Prize for his entire oeuvre.
