Once he finished his studies at the theatre school in Amsterdam, Bram van der Vlugt (1934) began his career as an actor with the Toneelgroep Studio theatre group. He then worked for different theatre companies including the Toneelgroep Sater theatre group, which he founded. Van der Vlugt has performed a number of roles and was well known for playing Sinterklaas in the parades on television. In 2018 the actor shared the stage with Nettie Blanken in Vasalis, altijd vandaag (Vasalis, Always Today). Vasalis won the Constantijn Huygens Prize and the P.C. Hooft prize among others for her poems. This play depicts the life and poetry of the Dutch poet against a musical backdrop.
