Jaap Robben (1984) wanted to be an archaeologist when he was younger. Life turned out differently and he became an author, poet and theatre maker. Robben writes for all ages and has released picture books and a novel. Harper’s Bazaar described his novel Birk (De Geus, 2014) as “a small masterpiece”. He was the Nijmegen City Poet from 2008 to 2010 and he has since published five collections of poetry. His latest novel Zomervacht (Summer Coat) will be published in September, which he will discuss during the ILFU Book Parade. The novel tells the story of 13-year-old Brian, who is given the responsibility of looking after his physically and mentally disabled brother one summer.
