After completing his degree in history, specialising in Islam and the Middle East, Lotfi El Hamidi (1986) briefly worked as a lecturer in history and social studies. Following on from this, he received a fellowship from De Groene Amsterdammer, where he worked from September 2016 to September 2017 as a home affairs editor to gain journalistic experience. El Hamidi is currently writing for NRC Handelsblad as the opinion’s editor. At the ILFU Novel Night he will be in conversation with Stephan Sanders and Joost de Vries to discuss the topic of racism in response to Kamel Daoud’s novel Moussa of de dood van een Arabier (Moussa or the death of an Arab).
