Stephan Sanders (1961) has been writing for almost thirty years for De Groene Amsterdammer and De Volkskrant, has a regular column in Vrij Nederland and writes monthly about religious matters for Trouw. In addition, Sanders has published several books, including a philosophical insight into the Rushdie affair, plus collections of essays, stories and travelogues. Following his studies in philosophy and political science, his interest lies mainly in writing about (political) philosophy, multi-ethnic and religious relationships, and literature. At the Evening of the Novel, Sanders will be discussing the topic of racism in relation to James Baldwin’s novel, The first next time.
