Tjibbe Veldkamp (1962) writes children’s books. After studying psychology in Groningen, he initially worked as a researcher. When someone advised him to write children’s books at the end of the 1980s, he disregarded this idea to begin with. However, years later he released Een ober van niks (The Waiter Who Couldn’t Serve) (Ploegsma, 1992), illustrated by Philip Hopman. Veldkamp is best known to the general public for his picture books about Agent and Boef, which he creates together with illustrator Kees de Boer. In 2017 he released the children’s book Handje? with Wouter Tulp, in which a little girl called Anna swaps her Dad. Tjibbe Veldkamp will be reading from Handje? as part of the Library for Kids programme at the ILFU.
