Jubilee: highlights from a great oeuvre
- This event has passed.
Even mere mortals like Tom Lanoye, fierce performer and literary divo, turn sixty at some point. In Lanoye’s case, on 27 August 2018. On this occasion, a book will be published containing photos and unpublished archive material, there will be an exhibition in the Gentse Krook and he’ll embark on a year-long tour with ‘Jubilee Lanoye’. During the ILFU, he’ll be appearing at the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht for a journey through his rich and extensive oeuvre.
In the first part of the performance, Lanoye, live on request, will be presenting texts from his oeuvre, which is now a significant size, like a living literary jukebox. The second part is set aside for Bloednoot, whereby Lanoye, together with partners-in-crime double bassist Nicolas Rombouts and drummer Teun Verbruggen, will be making word noise and language music. They play the raw ‘blue notes’ that have characterised Lanoye’s oeuvre since his first poems and performances in the early 1980s. A touring birthday extravaganza.
Start of performance: 8:00 p.m.
