Vasalis, altijd vandaag
Music theatre about one of the greatest
Bram van der Vlugt, Nettie Blanken, Hagar Peeters
- This event has passed.
In this narrative concert, Van der Vlugt & Co will be delving into the work of Vasalis, one of the Netherlands’ most beloved poets. Vasalis won the Constantijn Huygens Prize in 1974 and the P.C. Hooft Prize in 1982 and her poetry is perfectly suited to be put to music. Janine Brogt, known for her inventive book adaptations such as ‘Twee Vrouwen’ [Two Women], wrote the script. Bram van der Vlugt and Nettie Blanken take care of the theatrical fireworks, accompanied by Floris van der Vlugt – Bram’s son – with self-composed music.
The performance will be introduced by poet and author Hagar Peeters (1972). In 2009, she put together the Vasalis anthology Op een vlot van helderheid (Uitgeverij Van Oorschot). In September 2015, her widely praised debut novelMalva was published. The book was awarded the first Fintro Literature Prize in 2016 and nominated for many other awards. As an author, poet and Vasalis expert, Hagar Peeters discusses what the poetry of Vasalis can do to a person.
